The Truth About "Assault Weapons"

Officer Leroy Pyle debunks myths about semi-autos. He uses demonstrations with live firearms and congressional testimony by DEA, ATF, and FBI agents to show what the truth really is.

This video counters media reports of the devastating power of the AK-47 by comparing it against other common rifles -- and a shotgun.

Summary quote: "There was no grenade in that watermelon!"

The late Neal Knox of The Firearms Coalition made this with Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America back in 1989. The production values are about what you'd expect -- VHS video was a new thing then.

Yet we still hear from the dominant media how powerful the AK-47 is and from the gun prohibitionists who tell us that this rifle is too powerful for civilian hands. Is it really? Watch the video and make up your own mind.

Excellant post! It's nice to see some side by side comparesons, and to be able to observe directly just how overhyped and overblown the media tends to make the "gun problem" in America.
